Events & Quick Thoughts:

April 16 - Networking Hour and Monthly Meeting
Guest Speaker - Ethan Mayers

Subject: Shepherding Success:  How Good Operations Unleashes Innovation, Sustains Growth and Wins in the Marketplace.

INFO: Did you know the #1 cause of business failure is planning – either lack of planning, or just plain bad planning? And 9 of the top 10 causes of business failure are related to lack of experience – not in your chosen field, but in business operations. What is the right balance between getting your message out there and executions? What are the risks of poor operations, and how do you mitigate them? How do you best protect your reputation in the marketplace? How does business planning relate to agility? How does careful planning unleash innovation and enable you and your colleagues to win in the marketplace? Ethan will share best practices learned from working with numerous startups at various points during their life cycles. He’s on a mission to turn business planning from a check-the-box activity to one that generates value and cultivates success. Ethan is a former television producer turned entrepreneur, and the insights he's gleaned are sure to help you and your organization.

BIO: Ethan Mayers is the founder and one of the partners of Synthenai, a New York City-based management consulting firm focused on rethinking and reframing business design and processes for small to mid-sized businesses. After a successful career as a television producer that included stops at ESPN, University of Tennessee and Voom, Ethan took advantage of his work in research and analysis and founded Synthenai in 2008. Since then, Synthenai has inspired firms across many industries to focus on strong leadership, refined process management and responsiveness to a rapidly changing marketplace. Ethan holds a Bachelor’s in Business Administration and a Master’s in Communications from the University of Tennessee. When not guiding companies, Ethan is an avid photographer, musician and aspiring chef.

We need to have a good showing for the meeting because Ethan is coming from out of state to speak to us.  Invite your friends and anyone interested in the Chamber to attend.
